Born: 5-17-1869, Elbert Co., GA Died: 2-7-1935, Atlanta, GA Buried: "In the Valley," Pine Log, GA Married: Lundy Howard Harris The author of over twenty-five books and novels, Harris is best remembered for the semi-autobiographical A Circuit Rider's Wife, which was made into the 1951 movie "I'd Climb the Highest Mountain." During World War I, Harris served as the first female war correspondent for the Saturday Evening Post. Her Pine Log home, "In the Valley," purchased in 1913, remains a monument to one of the South's most prolific writers, and a legacy to Bartow County. |
